Children’s parties are certainly very special. One of the wonderful parts of children’s lives is the joy of attending their friends Birthday parties. On a warm sunny afternoon, our kids were involved in 3 parties. One of the children’s parties I was lucky enough to take out my camera and take some photographs. Yes even when I am not taking my camera out as a professional photographer I still get it out as photographer Dad. Luckily it was our day off and we had some energy to race in between the 3 parties.
Children’s parties at Whitemans park – a magic time
In the afternoon the kids went to a friend from schools celebration at Whitemans park. This a great location anytime of year and especially for a party,
School holidays is a fantastic time to catch up with your family and spend some time together. For me school holidays is an extremely busy time. Kids and parents are often on holiday together and many families take the opportunity to get some family portraits done. For sister Kim and Samantha, this was an ideal time to catch up with each other and have there precious daughters spend some time together. Samantha was on a break from Melbourne and arranged with her sister to get some prints for their parent Christmas gift – we have such thoughtful clients. We decided on a session at the iconic Cottesloe beach, a favourite for Beach portraits
The afternoon session was planned with the light in mind. This is a crucial part of being a photographer and choosing to shoot on location portraits without a full entourage of lighting assistants. The best way to prepare for a Beach portraits session is to get the timing right. Because there is no shade and only the clouds (not that there is any in Perth) provide some relief from the burning sun.
Well its been a super flat out end of the year and beginning to the new year. So much has happened, so many stories to tell, so many images to share, and so many blogs to catch up on. After a couple of huge months, it time to have a break and I’m just about to take a break with my wife to Bali. Its not purely holiday though as I’m going to be checking out some locations for some upcoming photographic workshops. So stay tuned. But it is a great time to get some new year portraits. The weather is lovely, we have hardly had any rain (Which is a little sad for the Farmers, but really good if you are a professional photographer.)
new year portraits at an urban location
To finish off I’m just sharing a few pics from an album from a new year portraits special done for a lovely couple who have just become engaged. They also printed some beautiful canvas prints to put in their new home,
Photographing a Wedding is the best job in the world. One of the many benefits of my job as a wedding photographer is the fact that I get to travel. With interstate airfares low, and a demand for the classical natural style we produce, getting a commissioned job outside of my home town is happening more often than not.
Brett & Tangi’s Wedding
I had met the groom Brett many years ago while he was a missionary here in Perth. I still remember vividly the night we met.
This year I was lucky enough to go to the AFL Grandfinal in Melbourne to see my friend and former basketball teammate Lewis Jetta, play in a winning Grand-final with the Sydney Swans against Hawthorn. I went across with my brother and also met up with a host of mates from Perth including WAAFL super star and human 6 pack Graham Jetta. The game itself was amazing, a 4 quarter dual, that could of gone either way several times. But just as impressive was the entire weekend. I had the opportunity to hang out with a very good friend I hadn’t seen for a while, and we had a ball. Plus I got to see the sights with host of other buddy’s. The AFL parade was unreal and although it was constantly raining, it was still such an amazing experience to witness. I often Photograph sporting events, but this weekend I was able to put the camera down for time and just enjoy watching a good old crack of football. The pictures I did take were more so documenting the things we got up to, and one of the highlights of the weekend was hanging out with Lewis and his family the day before the game. He was given some down time or leave from the playing group to hang out with his family, and we ended up chilling out in Timezone. it was great fun and an amazing experience on how families just enjoy themselves together, even with the hype of the biggest game of football om Australia just around the corner. Here is a snapshot of the fast running wingman in the AFL game today enjoying some special moments with his family.
Last night I had the honor of taking some precious family portraits on the Beach at Ocean reef. As the sun began to go down and the light became glorious and perfect for portraits, A couple of little princess’s got to run around and have some fun with the wind blowing back their hair and their grins from ear to ear. They had a magic little experience and of course Mum and dad were right there to enjoy the moment. Shooting family photographs down on the beach is a a wonderful thing, but the timing is the key. Come too early and the light is harsh and bright, making it hard for the family to look around without being blinded. Location and timing are super important to getting the right look and level of comfort during the experience. On our blog there is information to help you decide what is the best time and location for you, and a couple of samples to help you decide. Here is the link to that post. This little sneek preview from the portrait session, is just a little taste of some of the stunning and amazing natural portraits taken on the night. With the beautiful summer light coming into action, now is the time to book your own portrait. The best way to do that with us is to see where we are shooting and be first in best dressed with the dates, times and locations available. Here is the Link to our booking page.
Here is the first look at the Beautiful Wedding of Corey & Kiri-lee. They were Married on a warm Sunny day in October, which is a beautiful month to be married. Its a perfect day right in the middle of Wedding season, plus there is a good chance that you will have nice (not too hot) weather and only a slight chance of rain. This lovely couple were sealed in a private sacred ceremony at the LDS Temple in Dianella. Later they had a Ring ceremony at their reception centre, Burswood on the Swan as the magnificent Sun set over the river and city sky-scrape.
This first preview of images shares some of the beautiful moments they shared with family and friends on the Wedding day. Photographs were taken at Hyde Park, Matilda bay, the iconic Boat shed in Crawley and the back at the Burswood waterfront.
Following the beautiful ceremony and the lovely afternoon of Photographs, the couple sat together sharing many wonderful memories with the family and friends. They cut their stunning Wedding cake and had their Bridal dance to Spend my Life with you by Eric Benet and Tamia. What wedding can be complete without a lolley buffet, and this one was to die for. I must admit I tucked into a few treats myself.
The Bride & Groom have already selected their favourite images and their Beautiful handcrafted album from Jorgensens albums is underway.
Mother day is a very special day for me. It’s a day of remembering the wonderful sacrifice that my mother made in baring and raising me and my siblings. I also reflect of my grandmothers, aunties, sisters and sister in laws. And even my mother in law. But the really personal way in which i celebrate mothers day is with my wife and the mother of my children, Mesha. She truly is a marvelous woman. She bore me 3 wonderful, beautiful children which I love dearly, and she continues to raise them in a wonderful way with love and compassion. I know at times its tough and being the person I am i get critical of her sometimes, but I really appreciate the the wonderful job she does week in week out, day in day out, and year after year. Over 7 years ago she became a mother for the first time and together we have enjoyed the highs and lows of parenting, but mostly we have received great joy and happiness. I love you Mesha and I’m glad for your wonderful contribution as a mother to our family.
Anzac day is one of those special occasions, you know the ones. The ones that bring a smile and a tear to your eye at the same time, where silence for a small moment feels like eternity and can help bring back countless memories and emotions in the blink of an eye. For the past few years we have been getting up early in the morning to attend the dawn service at Blackboy hill. This site was once a training camp for the early Anzacs, and holds a special place in history. Our kids have ben eager although very tired to get up and go to the dawn service, and we see many of our family and friends there. There is also a fantastic group of volunteers that put on hot drinks, scones and Anzac cookies for the people braving the cold mornings. Well this morning wasn’t that cold, but due to baby having a rough night, we had a bit of a sleep in. In fact Baby, Kembry and Mesha didn’t get up at all, While Cumoram and I scrambled for the door to get there before it finished. This year seemed to be even more packed than previous years, but it was great to see such wonderful support. After attending the Dawn Service, the family and I caught the train into the city to watch the Marching Parade. This was an event that we would attend regularly when we were younger, especially when my Grandpop was alive and would March with the other returned soldiers. We would march with him often, which was a great delight to us. Dad really got into it too and so Anzac day has always been a special day for us as a family. One year I went to March and took my younger cousin Paddy out with me to be alongside our Grandpop. Well the West Australian newspaper thought that would be a great shot and so they snapped a picture of us to be published in the paper. Another great memory is of a very early portrait I did of my Grandpop and my Grandma sitting together at Langley reserve after the march and while we waited for the main service to begin. I loved that moment and still have the photo I took of them those many years ago. I had given them a framed picture of it as a gift and it was the one thing I asked to have back from them when they passed away. It holds a very special meaning to me.
This year we found a spot to watch the parade down by the Bell tower. We met with friends Tim and Jess Batten and took in with us Jessy Fallon. Jessy and Cumoram road their scooters around most of the time, but Kembry and Jairom had great joy sitting and watching the soldiers and marching bands in full motion. I snapped a few pictures of the day and processed them as Black & White images. As I saw these men and women march, i saw many things in their faces. Many carried scarring of what they had been through or what they had seen. They also had a look of dignity and pride. As I looked at their expressions I wondered what they thought now. I hope they have a place in their heart of peace and joy, knowing that what they did those many years ago has been of great benefit to us and our kids. Because it has. We live in a land of peace and plenty, where we have liberty to choose. Our freedom is our greatest blessing. Sometimes we moan and groan of our circumstances, but we are so blessed and have so much. And we OWE so much to those who have fought for our freedom and prosperity. To all those ANZACS and all those affected by the sacrifices of their family in the past, I would like to say THANK YOU….. LEST WE FORGET.
I hope these images tell a story and find meaning in your heart (PART 1)
Grandma just turned 62 and for those of the family not far away, we held a little party. What that means is Kids running wild, doing whatever they want to do, and us as parents for once not challenging Grandma when she just lets them get away with it. A couple of things we got to find out on the night. Zoey actually likes Basketball, I wonder how that sits with her non sporty parents. Mali can do amazing handstands ( almost as good as his Dad and I). Cumoram is the Hoola Hoop king, although Sariah isn’t that far off and little Adam and his mates love Nephi and the LIKEN videos. Oh and one more thing – Grandpop looks good in his cone hat. What a great night, and everyone had loads of fun. Happy Birthday Grandmas, we Love you lots!!!!
Just thought I would share my favourite image from the week. I took this of my kids playing together in a park on a bright sunny afternoon in Perth. Cherish so much their laughs and smiles, especially the ittle baby being spoilt by his olders siblings.
The engagement party of Harley & Beige was held in the family home of Beige’s parent in the Hills overlooking the city lights. The afternoon was extremely warm, and thank goodness the pool was available for all those wishing to cool down. Before they did though, they enjoyed the tasty delights and the fine wine circulating the family and friends that had turned up for the celebration.
As the afternoon kicked on, the formalities of this significant event took place. This included some humorous stories from the groom to be and his soon to be father in law. The Bride to be then shared her thoughts and feelings much to the delight of everyone, and there was some special words shared by the friends chosen to be the bridal party at next years big event. To end it off Beige and Harley cut their cake, a beautifully designed replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris that reflected their super romantic official engagement.
After the formalities and as the sun set, the hot guests indulged in the cool waters of the big pool while others barefooted, entertained themselves on the dance floor.
The night was a wonderful night for all. Here are some of the images from the night. With the full gallery of photographs and images from the night found in the client area of www.dezirestudios.com
Swan Athletics’ League team will face a stern test this Saturday when they front last years Grand Final opposition in Hamersley at Carine open Space in the WAAFL A grade clash.
Brimming with confidence after last weeks first up win the young Swans will be fully aware of the challenges that lay before them at Hamersley. The B grade Premiers from 2011 has not lost much in terms of their forward power and this presents the biggest test in trying to contain those power forwards fed by an elite midfield that plays this venue very well.
The League game will commence at 2-20 p-m
In Last weeks Fixture the Swans matched very evenly against a long established “A” grade Club in North Fremantle. Fielding a team with several debutants and players with less than five games ,the healthy crowd was delighted by the performance on the Swans at Home.
Beginning well in a new season and at the highest level in community Football was very important for the club. To This end Coach Justin Wood displayed his attention to detail in preparing the team at his disposal to an absolute treat. Bursting from the blocks with Adam Erceg and Carl Scafone dominant in the midfield the home side rammed the ball forward to a fast leading full forward in Jeremy Polich. Had Polich been accurate early the game should have been well and truly over by the half time siren.
With young debutant Clinton Bomfield a highlight and the hard running Adam Whitehouse his usual self , the scoring opportunities provided, always gave the home crowd the feeling the game was under control; despite goal front inaccuracy.
New signing Wattleworth was a tireless worker in the ruck and displaying a real appetite for the match the home team was not to be headed in the second half.
Final Scores: Swan Athletic 15 goals 6 behinds (96) North Fremantle 7 goals 15 behinds (57)
Best Players Adam Whitehouse: outstanding on a wing and was hard running all day
Adam Erceg : showed his class and turned the opposition consistently with that penetrating left foot
Carl Scafone: Welcomed back to the club with a typical highly skilled midfield performance.
The reserves lost a tight game by 3 points only and will definitely benefit from the re introduction of 4-5 key players that missed the first round
The colts faced a big challenge and went down by 6 goals against a highly credentialed opposition in a club that fields three colts teams every weekend. However the boys missed ruckman Corey Lobb who should resume shortly and his height will make a big difference
